Vanessa Martinez-Hernandez is the Business Services Coordinator at Heartland Workforce Solutions, joining the team in 2019. She works to create and promote talent pipelines in the community for high-wage, high-skill, high-demand occupations so individuals can have the ability to fast-track into sustainable employment, and businesses can fill their talent needs quickly with the appropriate candidates.
She is responsible for being the Lead Project Manager for the local Heartland Work Ready Communities Initiative of Douglas County (NE), which is a framework designed by ACT, Inc. that benefits both the career seekers and businesses in the local community. She also focuses on business and industry engagement where she determines current workforce needs and challenges and how the organization can partner with businesses and other community agencies to create solutions to help promote economic prosperity in Douglas, Sarpy and Washington Counties.
Through her current role, Vanessa also helps businesses by promoting current employment opportunities through our network of community partners, in-person hiring events, virtual career fairs, virtual career exploration events, and business spotlight events. I am also a lead committee member for the EmployOMA coalition, which is a collaborative effort by state and local government agencies, non-profits and employers to connect Omaha businesses with an ambitious pool of previously hard-to-reach candidates. I also serve as a committee member on the Integrated Business Services Team, which brings other business service colleagues together to discuss how we can best serve our business partners in the community.
To Vanessa, the most rewarding part of her job is making connections with others and sharing all of the opportunities available at Heartland Workforce Solutions. She also enjoys being able to share all of the great programs and services we provide to businesses and career seekers alike.
In her free time, Vanessa enjoys spending time surrounded by the people she loves most: her wife, family and friends. She also enjoys watching funny movies and documentaries, crafting, listening to music, dancing, cooking, trying new restaurants, taking road trips and vacations, and the occasional retail therapy session.
