Maris Kingfisher is the Southside Terrace Career Readiness Coordinator for Heartland Workforce Solutions. They are committed to workforce innovation that removes cumbersome barriers for job seekers, providing gainful employment opportunities and connecting business partners with skilled labor.
With over 10 years experience in human services, higher education and workforce development in Iowa and Nebraska, Maris has learned to approach new situations with a “beginner’s mind.” They believe in the opportunity to learn, empathize, and encourage new possibilities.
Maris has worked as a consultant with several local organizations providing education and DEIB advocacy to ensure quality care for community members. Their educational journey began at Metropolitan Community College and continued at Bellevue University earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership.
Outside of work, Maris uses Heartland Bike Share to explore the Greater Omaha area with their wife. In the summer, Maris likes to pick up french pastries and take Ari, their goldendoodle, to sniffari at the park.
