Rose Roberts is well on her pathway to success, but it hasn’t been without adversity and hardships. Rose first learned about Heartland Workforce Solutions after receiving a referral from the Goodwill. She was searching for employment, but needed guidance to overcome significant obstacles. She was looking to improve her interview skills and find motivation that she could achieve her goals.
After enrolling in the WIOA Youth Program, Rose was quickly signed up for the Goodwill Retail Class, a workforce development program that prepares students to enter the workforce. Additional support was provided to ensure Rose was successful. She was assigned a career coach who worked side by side with her to achieve her goals, and she bus passes were provided to ensure she didn’t miss any classes. Rose said enrolling in the WIOA Youth Program was exactly what she needed.
“It made me feel like I was cared about and that there was help for me.”
Rose has since completed the Retail Training Program and is now a full-time employee at the Goodwill, working as a Retail Sales associate. Through her own life experiences, Rose now has a message for others who are seeking long term career opportunities.
“Don’t be shy because there’s always someone to help,” she said. “Even if your situation seems tough, you can get through it.”
