Expanding Diversity in Skilled Trade Careers
Powered by Berkshire Hathaway Energy and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers: the Stronger Together Initiative
Learn if a career in the energy industry is right for you, and how to prepare yourself to take the first step.
The energy industry is seeking a diverse workforce.
Energy employers are especially eager to hire women, people of color, veterans, individuals from the LGBTQ community and people who identify as having a disability. Why? Because energy companies, like all businesses, are strengthened by diversity. The quest to expand diversity in the energy workforce often begins in skilled trade positions, as these are great jobs for people ready to work hard to make a difference in their communities. They are excellent positions for those looking for a high-paying job that can become a career.
Working in the energy industry pays very well.
Many people are surprised to learn that six-figure incomes can be earned in many skilled trade positions. Some segments of the energy industry pay as much as 53% above the median hourly wage. In addition to compensation, energy companies offer tremendous advancement opportunities and career paths, and many offer health, dental, 401(k) and disability insurance.
Take the first step in exploring a career in energy.
BHE-IBEW Stronger Together information sessions are designed to connect those who have never considered a career in energy with the information, education and preparation to pursue opportunities in the energy sector. Participants can expect resumé and interview prep, support to enable candidates to demonstrate technical readiness, coaching, mentoring, connections to take the first step and more.
The information sessions are ideal for recent high school graduates, those working in low-income positions or dead- end jobs, people whose jobs were eliminated or downsized during the pandemic, and anyone else who’s ready to invest in themselves and their professional future.
