CAREfair | May 11th
CAREfair is a healthcare-focused hiring event hosted by the National Hospital Association in partnership with American Job Centers across Nebraska.

Join us on May 11th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at our 24th Street location to connect with healthcare employers and explore career opportunities across the industry.
Omaha Data and Artificial Intelligence Job Fair | May 13th
The Tech Job Fair, in partnership with Omaha Data Science Academy, connects job seekers with employers in technology and data-driven industries.

Join us on May 13th from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Millwork Commons to explore tech career opportunities and network with industry professionals.
Jobapalooza | June 6th
Jobapalooza is our annual outdoor hiring event open to everyone in the community! Join us on June 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in our parking lot to connect with a wide variety of employers.

We’ll feature designated rows specifically for part-time and summer job opportunities, making it easy to find the right fit.
Puertas Abiertas Job Fair | September 17th
Puertas Abiertas Job Fair is a community hiring event celebrating opportunity and culture in honor of Fiestas Patrias.

Join us on September 17th from 3:00–6:00 p.m. outside at our 24th Street location to connect with local employers and explore career opportunities as we celebrate alongside the weekend’s community festivities.

Partner with the American Job Center to connect with motivated candidates ready to work and grow. Our work-based learning programs provide hands-on support for both employers and participants, helping you build your workforce while reducing hiring costs.

 

All candidates must be determined eligible through our workforce programs prior to placement. Our team guides employers and participants every step of the way.

 

Available Programs:


Wage Reimbursement

Heartland Workforce Solutions offers wage reimbursement opportunities to help employers reduce the cost of hiring and training new employees. Through programs like On-the-Job Training, eligible businesses may receive partial wage reimbursement while new workers gain the skills needed to succeed. This support helps strengthen your workforce and lowers hiring risk.



Work-Based Learning

Short-term, subsidized employment to help individuals explore careers and build skills.

  • Subsidized wages and training costs
  • We provide workers’ compensation coverage
  • Ongoing support from dedicated career planners
  • Access to emerging talent across industries

 

On-the-Job Training (OJT)

 

Hire and train new employees with wage reimbursement.

  • We reimburse 50%–75% of wages
  • Rate and duration depend on the job, individual, and company size
  • The wage reimbursement rate of 75% depends on the technical skills needed for each position and currently requires board approval.

Customized Training

 

Heartland Workforce Solutions helps employers develop customized training programs tailored to their workforce needs. In partnership with various organization in Omaha, we support businesses in upskilling employees, improving productivity, and strengthening retention. Funding may be available to help offset training costs and support long-term growth.

 


Registered Apprenticeships for Employers

 

Registered Apprenticeships help employers build a highly skilled workforce through a combination of hands-on training and classroom instruction. Apprentices earn nationally recognized credentials while developing strong problem-solving, teamwork, and technical skills. These programs improve retention, boost productivity, and help businesses meet critical workforce needs as experienced workers retire.

Incumbent Worker Program

The Incumbent Worker Program helps local businesses invest in the skills of their existing employees through cost-shared training opportunities. Designed to strengthen companies and retain talent, the program supports customized training that improves productivity, fills skill gaps, and prepares workers for new technologies, certifications, or advancement.By partnering with employers, the program helps businesses stay competitive while creating clear career pathways for their workforce.

Explore ONEBiz:

 

ONEBiz is Omaha’s official small business support site, offering step-by-step guides, licensing help, and local resources to start, grow, or work with the city. Free profiles provide personalized checklists, and the site is available in English and Spanish.

 

It also offers centralized guidance for industries like construction, trades, engineering, and architecture—helping businesses navigate city contracting opportunities and requirements.

Rapid Response

Layoff Information

Support your team through transitions with care and dignity. If your business is facing downsizing or closure, we provide:

  • Rapid Response Coordination
  • On-site employee information session
  • Career counseling and job placement support
  • Connections to unemployment insurance and retraining resources
  • Provide notice 60 days in advance of covered plant closings and covered mass layoffs
