Expectations
American Job Centers are designed to be a partnership. You can expect guidance, resources, and tools to support your job search — along with the expectation that you’ll actively participate in planning and taking next steps toward your employment goals.
What is it?
American Job Centers offer a variety of employment and training assistance and serve a range of specialized clients including veterans, youth, laid-off workers, and employers.
Cost
All services are provided at zero cost to the job seeker and are funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and other grants.
Eligibility, Enrollment, and Program Matcher
Likely Document Needs
- Valid photo identification that includes date of birth
- Selective Service Registration (for individuals age 18 and older, if applicable)
- Social Security card or other I-9 documents
- Military discharge forms (if relevant)
Other documents may be required depending on the services being received.

Career Services
Basic Career Services – No Enrollment Required
These are available to anyone who and has an NEworks account. These services include:
- Access to computers and printers for job searching
- Help with unemployment insurance filings,
- Attendance at free events and workshops.
Staff can assist with setting up an NEworks account if needed.
Individualized Career Services – Program Enrollment Required
These are available to residents of Douglas, Sarpy, or Washington counties. One-on-one services require enrollment in a workforce program and may require documentation to confirm eligibility. These services include:
- Resume customization
- Interview practice
- Digital literacy support
- Develop a personalized employment plan and set career goals
- Review labor market information to align your goals with in-demand jobs

Occupational Skills Training
Training programs are selected from Nebraska’s Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL).

On-the-Job-Training (OJT)
Depending on your program and goals, you may access:
- On-the-Job Training (OJT) – earn while you learn
- Registered Apprenticeships – earn while you learn
- Classroom-based training
- Internships
- Temporary or direct employment opportunities
- Machinist

- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
