HWS serves residents of Douglas, Sarpy, and Washington Counties. You do not have to be from Omaha or a certain part of Omaha to access our services.
What will happen to the Ames location when the 24th Street location opens?
We will have two locations! We’re not leaving or changing anything at Ames, but just growing to have another location at 24th street.
When will the 24th Street location open?
Late Fall. Keep an eye on our social media and the 24th Street Location page for updates!
Are you a staffing agency?
No. We are a non-profit organization set out to connect individuals with the right resources and educational opportunities to advance their careers to get a job. So, we help people indirectly to get jobs, but we are NOT a staffing agency.

Am I able to get help in person?
Get help within our resource room at either location, meet with a navigator, or schedule a one-on-one meeting with a career coach.

Are specialized services available for Veterans/Spouses of Veterans?
Yes, specialized, priority employment services are extended to those in the US Armed Forces. All veterans are eligible for priority service, including (but not limited to) those returning from active duty, the disabled, or those retiring from the military.
Spouses of veterans also receive priority of services. A veteran representative at HWS can help you navigate the system and connect you to the programs that will best serve your needs.

What services are available at Heartland Workforce Solutions?
We have a wide variety of services available for adults, dislocated workers, veterans, and youth. Services include assistance with resume and cover letter writing, re-employment services, on-the-job training, educational opportunities, job fairs, workshops, and much more.
Can I look through job postings on my own?
Of course! Most job postings are available online. You can browse the NEworks job postings or use other popular online job search tools like Indeed from you home, HWS’s resource center, a library, or anywhere with an internet connection.
Can you help me find a job?
Help is available in person at HWS. Career seekers can also access job postings and resources through our resource library or the NEworks website.
How do I apply for Unemployement Benefits?

How does HWS connect with employers?
Heartland Workforce Solutions streamlines the process of getting employers connected to the right people for the right job. We can assist employers with many initiatives – Job fairs, Better Business Workshops, training for new employees, paid internships, and training for existing employers (incumbent worker training) – all free of charge.
I’m an employer looking for job seekers, how can I get help getting in front of the right people?

I’d like to host a training or educational workshop for my employees, can I reserve a room?
Yes, we have spaces for businesses, organizations or companies to host their training or educational workshops. The event must be free for attendees. Email onestop@hws-ne.org to reserve your room today.
