Do you charge for your services or for training?
No, our services or training are free for the community to attend.
I live in __________ County. Can you help me?
Anyone is welcome at either of our locations and may come in for assistance. However, eligibility for program support and certain services requires residency in Douglas, Sarpy, or Washington County.
I’m not from North or South Omaha. Can you help me?
HWS serves residents of Douglas, Sarpy, and Washington Counties. You do not have to be from Omaha or a certain part of Omaha to access our services.
What is the difference between the Ames and 24th St. location?
Start times differ between the two locations. Department of Labor staff are not available onsite at the 24th Street location to provide in-person support. The Lyriq machine for accessible technology is available at the Ames location.
Are you a staffing agency?
No. We are a non-profit organization set out to connect individuals with the right resources and educational opportunities to advance their careers to get a job. So, we help people indirectly to get jobs, but we are NOT a staffing agency.
Am I able to get help in person?
Get help within our resource room at either location, meet with a navigator, or schedule a one-on-one meeting with a career coach.
Are specialized services available for Veterans/Spouses of Veterans?
Yes, specialized, priority employment services are extended to those in the US Armed Forces. All veterans are eligible for priority service, including (but not limited to) those returning from active duty, the disabled, or those retiring from the military.

Spouses of veterans also receive priority of services. A veteran representative at HWS can help you navigate the system and connect you to the programs that will best serve your needs.
What services are available at Heartland Workforce Solutions?
We have a wide variety of services available for adults, dislocated workers, veterans, and youth. Services include assistance with resume and cover letter writing, re-employment services, on-the-job training, educational opportunities, job fairs, workshops, and much more.
Can you help me find a job?
Yes! We provide free job search assistance, resume support, career coaching, and connections to local employers.

Individualized, one-on-one career services are available to residents of Douglas, Sarpy, or Washington counties. Enrollment in a workforce program is required and documentation may be needed to determine eligibility.
How do I apply for Unemployment Benefits?
You can file a claim for unemployment benefits online through NEworks website

Do you offer virtual services?
Yes, virtual services are available by appointment. Please contact Heartland Workforce Solutions at (402) 444-4700 or email onestop@hws-ne.org to schedule.

Relay services are accessible by dialing 1-800-833-7352 (TTY) or 1-800-833-0920 for hearing callers.

How does HWS connect with employers?
Heartland Workforce Solutions streamlines the process of getting employers connected to the right people for the right job. We can assist employers with many initiatives – Job fairs, Better Business Workshops, training for new employees, paid internships, and training for existing employers (incumbent worker training) – all free of charge.
I’m an employer looking for job seekers, how can I get help getting in front of the right people?
Participate in an Employer Spotlight event at HWS to highlight your business or positions. Or attend our job fairs free of charge. You can email us at onestop@hws-ne.org to learn more.
I’d like to host a training or educational workshop for my employees, can I reserve a room?
Yes, we have spaces for businesses, organizations or companies to host their training or educational workshops. The event must be free for attendees. Email onestop@hws-ne.org to reserve your room today.
